Despite Canada's vast size, only a very small fraction of the land is actually used for human habitation. The majority of Canadians live in large urban centres within 200 kilometers of the Southern border. The most populous cities are Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary.

HOUSING TO FIT YOUR NEEDS

The style and availability of housing varies greatly from city to city, and region to region. On Canada's West coast you will find architecture unique in the country, as the temperate climate allows for greater flexibility in building style. In general, you can expect to find larger, detached suburban-style housing on the outskirts of major cities. Deeper inside Canada's cities you will find that high density apartments, houses and high-rise condominiums are the norm.
