Visa Types - Business Class

The Business Immigration Program seeks to attract experienced business people to Canada who will support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

Business immigrants are expected to make a C$400,000 investment or to own and manage businesses in Canada.

Business Immigration comprises of three different Business Visa categories for potential immigrants wishing to Invest or start a business in Canada. Business immigration to Canada requires that the applicants must have the ability and intention to positively contribute to the Canadian economy by establishing and maintaining a suitable Canadian business, using substantial business knowledge. A Canadian Business Visa may be obtained under the following three categories:

1. Immigrant Investors Program

2. Entrepreneurs Program

3. Self-Employed Person

Immigrant Investors Program

Under this category come all such businessmen who have vast knowledge regarding business management and a considerable amount of funds for the investment purposes. They are not required to set a business of their own if they can not. Rather, they can invest their money in the Canadian economy in any particular field or area of business. They should be having a net worth of 800,000 CAD$ where they are supposed to make an investment worth 400,000 CAD$ to the Receiver General for Canada. Investments to the Receiver General for Canada are guaranteed by participating provinces and territories and must be made when advised to do so.

This investment is being used to finance job creation and progressive developments for the betterment of the Canadian economy. The investment made is supposed to get mature in five years and three months from the date it got invested. And the investment is being returned to the investors excluding the interest.

The Investors Program is also a points tested visa and requires a pass mark of 35 out of 100 points and is assessed on six main factors including age, education, business experience, language ability and adaptability.

Investors must have at least two years business experience immediately before making an application. In addition they must have either:

1. Controlled and managed a percentage of equity in a qualifying business

2. Managed at least five full-time job equivalents per year in a qualifying business

Entrepreneurs Program

Seasoned businessmen who have the ability to mange and run businesses efficiently, who can really contribute a lot to the Canadian economy through their skills and investment are encouraged to apply under entrepreneur program. They are supposed to have a minimum net worth of 30,000 CAD$ along with two years of business experience before making this application. The other requirements are

1. Control and manage a percentage of equity in a qualifying business equal to or grater than 33%

2. Develop and maintain the management of a qualifying business, and create at least one full time position within that qualifying business for one or more Canadian Citizens (not including family members)

Entrepreneurs are also required to accomplish the above within 3 years of gaining permanent resident status in Canada and must be able to evidence the qualities mentioned above for a period of at least one year.
The Entrepreneur Program is also a points tested visa and requires a passing percentage of 35 out of 100 points and is assessed on six main factors including age, education, business experience, language ability and adaptability. Self-Employed Persons

Self employed persons are supposed to create their own employment provided that they have the required ability to perform so. They are expected to serve the different aspects of Canadian society like contributing to their cultural, athletic or artistic sects. For instance, buying and managing a farm in Canada is an option of creating self employment.

For this visa application, the applicants are not supposed to show their assets in order to assure that they can take the full responsibility of themselves and their family through their strong bank accounts. This program is also point based and requires passing percentage of 35 out of 100 points and is assessed on six main factors including age, education, business experience, language ability and adaptability.

 The applicant must is required to have a two years business experience immediately before making an application. The applicant must have the ability to:

1. Create a business that focuses on befitting the cultural and leisure/athletic sector in Canada

2. Create at least one full time position for himself in that business

3. Purchase, manage and maintain a farm in Canada.
